Background Photograph Is ‘Friends at The Bay’

Jonathan’s first project took place in Istanbul. In August 2022, he travelled to Turkey’s cultural capital in order to document its way of life, placing a significant emphasis on capturing typical scenes whilst utilising Istanbul’s landmarks as their backdrop. This personal assignment presents Jonathan’s earliest documentary photography.

Jonathan’s subject is the true nature of daily life. Photographers can often capture a famous landmark whilst missing what is actually in front of them. These images attempt to bridge that gap.
